If you have never been in an abusive situation your mind cannot comprehend the pain and terror that an abused child knows. In her heartbreaking story, Ms. Casciano shares the horrors she suffered as a child of an alcoholic mother and a father who sexually abused her. Against all odds, is the amazing story that this abuse did not define her as an adult as she found faith in God to help her forgive her parents. Her faith is an inspiration to even the most-faithful among us.

The true story begins Ms. Casciano as an adult with four beautiful sons and a loving husband. While sitting in church one morning, she feels the pastor is speaking directly to her about forgiveness and she wonders if she really has to forgive her parents so she can heal. After speaking to her pastor and a woman who had a similar experience to hers, she writes a letter to her father explaining that she forgives him for the abuse. Unfortunately, she never receives a reply and her father passes away a few months later.

After graduating from college, she marries her sweetheart, John. They were married for two years before she found the strength to share with him the darkest secrets of what her parents did to her as a child. Luckily, John was supportive of her and they started their family.

Throughout the entire story, Ms. Casciano shares the Bible verses that helped her find God, build her faith and forgive those who hurt her. This story can help anyone who struggles with questions about their own faith in God. The verses she shares are easy to memorize and offer strength to others who need faith. If someone can survive abuse and an eating disorder with a faith she was never taught to have, anyone can find their way to God. While her story is important, her message of looking to God is one that everyone needs to be reminded of once in a while.

The story is one for adults only. While the sexual abuse is not shared in detail, just the mention of it several times throughout the book is enough to make this unsuitable for children or teens. An incredible journey from hell to heaven in healing, set in motion by a gift of grace from God.

"All we need is faith. So hold on to hope. Hold on to your faith. Sometimes on your worst day, your only strength may come from knowing that God loves us despite our unworthiness and brokenness."
