Where Have All The Elves Gone? by Christian Warren Freed is a fantasy mystery in a class by itself. It's occasionally funny, always entertaining, and the plot twists will keep readers interested.

Daniel Thomas is a fantasy writer and he knows the characters he creates don't exist in the real world. Elves definitely don't exist in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. All that he thinks he knows suddenly changes one night.

It's not easy making a living as a fantasy writer. Formerly a best-selling fantasy author, Daniel is struggling. Readers have lost interest in novels about dragons and elves, and his agent has just said no to his latest manuscript. Furious at his agent and determined to change her mind, Daniel heads over to her office that night. Unfortunately, he gets there too late. His agent is dying on the floor.

Already in shock, Daniel sees his agent's body turn to ash. Just when he thought it couldn't get any stranger, he learns that all of the mythical characters in his books are real. A real-life dragon lives under the city and only wants to watch old reruns of 80s TV shows, and there's a giant that loves the Grateful Dead and forging weapons.

With assassins suddenly after him for finding the agent's body and an elven civil war going on in Raleigh, Daniel is having a hard time accepting this new reality. He's being chased by assassins and his two new friends helping him survive are two cigar-smoking dwarf brothers that also own more weapons than most armies.

With the murder of an elf to solve and a shadowy government agency trying to keep everything secret, Daniel is desperately trying to survive. If he does, he may have the storyline to his next best-selling fantasy novel. Where Have All The Elves Gone? has elements similar to a James Bond story. There are secret agencies and a sinister plot, however, there is also plenty of entertaining chaos.

Christian Warren Freed's writing is smooth and expressive. It's easy for readers to put themselves in Daniel's shoes when he finds out the elves are living among us. His writing style helps the story to flow and brings readers along for the ride.

Sometimes funny and other times a little dark, Where Have The Elves Gone? brings something fresh and new to fantasy mysteries. Whether you want to curl up with a mystery or read more about elves this book has something for everyone. Spend a few hours solving a mystery with a human and a couple of dwarves - you'll be glad you did.

"Daniel's mouth fell so fast he drooled on himself. The sheer impossibility of what he'd just been told threatened to snap his mind. Everyone knows that elves don't exist, right?"

About the Author - Christian Warren Freed

David Ackley

Christian W. Freed was born in Buffalo, N.Y. more years ago than he would like to remember. After spending more than 20 years in the active duty US Army he has turned his talents to writing. Since retiring, he has gone on to publish over 20 military fantasy and science fiction novels, as well as his memoirs from his time in Iraq and Afghanistan, a children's book, and a pair of how to books focused on indie authors and the decision making process for writing a book and what happens after it is published.

His first published book (Hammers in the Wind) has been the #1 free book on Kindle 4 times and he holds a fancy certificate from the L Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest. Ok, so it was for 4th place in one quarter, but it's still recognition from the largest fiction writing contest in the world. And no, he's not a scientologist.

Passionate about history, he combines his knowledge of the past with modern military tactics to create an engaging, quasi-realistic world for the readers. He graduated from Campbell University with a degree in history and a Masters of Arts degree in Digital Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He currently lives outside of Raleigh, N.C. and devotes his time to writing, his family, and their two Bernese Mountain Dogs. If you drive by you might just find him on the porch with a cigar in one hand and a pen in the other. You can find out more about his work by following him on Facebook or on Twitter.
